I deliberately waited until after this solemn week of remembrance, which included the anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s death, the 25th anniversary of September 11, and the anniversary of the Benghazi attack, to share some meaningful news.
For anyone interested in the behind-the-scenes of the business side of my author journey.
Over the past several weeks, I have been rebuilding the publishing future of my debut novel, Eulogy for the Stripes, from the ground up.
Following the wind-down of Defiance Press, the publishing rights returned to me. Rather than simply placing the book back online, I decided to build something lasting around it.
I registered Proud Place Studios™ as an assumed name/DBA in Texas under my own company. I also developed its visual identity, established the imprint across the publishing records for the new editions, and began formally documenting and protecting the brand for long-term use.
Proud Place Studios™ is both my independent publishing house and a broader creative-development banner; the home for my books, their intellectual property, and, God willing, their eventual expansion into film or television.
That larger vision matters to me. I have always believed Eulogy for the Stripes has the foundation for a serialized television story in the tradition of Jericho or The Walking Dead: ordinary people, national fracture, survival, faith, loyalty, and the consequences of choices made under extraordinary pressure.
The relaunch has required far more than changing a logo. I obtained new Proud Place Studios ISBNs for the paperback, hardcover, and ebook; updated the copyright and publishing history; secured a Library of Congress Control Number; rebuilt the paperback cover; created a premium clothbound hardcover with a dust jacket; prepared the ebook; and submitted the appropriate materials to the Library of Congress and the U.S. Copyright Office.
The first physical proof arrives Sunday. Amazon KDP and IngramSpark are producing additional paperback and hardcover proofs. I will inspect every edition before authorizing distribution.
If the proofs meet the standard, Eulogy for the Stripes is scheduled to return under the Proud Place Studios™ banner on September 29, 2026.
For the first time, the book’s publishing identity, legal foundation, long-term stewardship, and creative future are all under one roof.
I cannot wait to show you what comes next.
